Our lodge grants easy access to both festival sites. Fistral Beach, home of the legendary surf event, is a ten-minute walk away, and the shuttle to the main arena at Watergate Bay leaves from a bus station five minutes from the front door. Between sets, come back to a comfortable, welcoming space to unwind.
With a proud twenty-year heritage in Newquay’s surfing community, our team knows exactly how to deliver a proper Cornish coastal experience. Deep local knowledge, an official festival partnership and a surf school on site. For a Boardmasters stay, it’s a no-brainer.

01 How close is the lodge to the festival sites?
Ideally placed. Fistral Beach, the surf competition site, is just a ten-minute walk away. For the main music arena at Watergate Bay, the festival shuttle buses run from Newquay Bus Station, which is only a five-minute walk from the lodge.
02 Where do surf lessons meet?
All lessons meet at Elemental Surf Lodge before heading down to Fistral Beach. Meeting here lets us get everyone organised with wetsuits and equipment together.
03 How long is a surf lesson?
Our surf lessons run for two hours. We ask you to arrive fifteen minutes before your start time so we can get you fitted and ready for the water.
04 Do I need to book surf lessons in advance?
Yes, especially during Boardmasters. The academy gets extremely busy, so we highly recommend booking your discounted resident lessons as soon as you confirm your accommodation to guarantee your spot.
05 What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4:00pm to 6:30pm, giving you plenty of time to arrive and settle in. Check-out is by 10:00am on your day of departure.
06 Can we leave bags before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, as long as you confirm it with reception first. Drop your bags off early and head straight to Fistral, or leave them with us on your departure day and make the most of your last few hours of Boardmasters. The team will agree drop-off and collection times with you. The storage isn’t accessible around the clock.
07 Can I store my own surfboard at the lodge?
Absolutely. We have a dedicated, secure board storage and drying area, accessible from 8am to 6pm unless you’ve pre-agreed other times with the lodge team, where you can safely leave your surfboards and wetsuits when you head up to the main music arena at Watergate Bay.
08 Is parking available at the lodge?
We have on-site parking, but it is extremely limited and needs to be booked in advance. We are also within a five-minute walk of four long-stay car parks.
09 Is there a curfew or lock-out during Boardmasters?
No lock-out time. You have 24/7 access to the lodge with your key. We do ask all guests to respect quiet hours between 10:00pm and 7:30am so everyone can recharge for the next day.
10 Are you a party hostel during the festival?
We love the Boardmasters atmosphere and welcome festival-goers, but the lodge is not a party hostel. It’s a fun, relaxed, comfortable place, with strict quiet hours so everyone gets a good night’s sleep.
