Where do Boardmasters lessons meet?
All lessons meet at Elemental Surf Lodge before heading down to Fistral Beach. Meeting here allows us to get everyone organised with wetsuits and equipment together.
How long is a surf lesson?
Our surf lessons run for 2 hours. We ask you to arrive 15 minutes before your start time so we can get you fitted and ready for the water.
How close is the lodge to the Boardmasters festival site?
We are ideally located! Fistral Beach (the surf competition site) is just a short walk away. For the main music arena at Watergate Bay, the festival shuttle buses run from Newquay Bus Station, which is only a 5-minute walk from the lodge.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, giving you plenty of time to arrive and settle in. Check-out is by 10:00 AM on your day of departure.
Is parking available at the lodge?
We do have on-site parking; however, it is extremely limited and needs to be booked in advance. We are also within a 5-minute walk of 4 long-stay car parks.
Do I need to book surf lessons in advance?
Yes, especially during the Boardmasters festival! Our surf academy gets extremely busy, so we highly recommend booking your discounted resident lessons as soon as you confirm your accommodation to guarantee your spot.
Can we leave our bags before check-in or after check-out to enjoy the festival?
Yes! We offer secure luggage storage for our guests. You can drop your bags off early and head straight to Fistral Beach, or leave them with us on your day of departure so you can enjoy the final day of Boardmasters unhindered.
Is there a curfew or lock-out time during Boardmasters?
There is no lock-out time—you will have 24/7 access to the lodge with your key. However, we do ask all guests to respect our quiet hours between 11:00 PM and 7:30 AM so everyone can recharge for the next day.
Can I safely store my own surfboard at the lodge?
Absolutely. We have a dedicated, secure board storage and drying area where you can safely leave your surfboards and wetsuits when you head up to the main music arena at Watergate Bay.
Are you a "party hostel" during the festival?
While we love the Boardmasters atmosphere and welcome festival-goers, Elemental Surf Lodge is not a party hostel. We provide a fun, relaxed, and comfortable environment, but we enforce strict quiet hours to ensure all our guests can get a good night's sleep.
